Contrary to popular belief, asking a friend to video tape your wedding with an everyday camcorder will not get the job done. Take it from us—it doesn’t turn out well. When we were married in 2003, two friends generously (or so we thought) volunteered to film our wedding.
Sure we saved a few bucks...but in the end...it was not worth the money saved. Although they did their best, the end result was horrible. Looking back on that once in a lifetime day, the value to us is immeasurable in what we lost. The sound was inaudible, the video was very poor quality, the picture bounced around, and the color is terrible. When we try to watch our video, we sometimes need to take Dramamine to counter the motion sickness that often occurs from the bouncing video and it is more depressing watching it than not watching it.
We can’t complain about everything that happened with our wedding video — after all, it has been an invaluable sales tool, not to mention the sole reason that we started this business.
